The wharf in Morgan City remains off limits to the public until further notice due to flood damage. City workers will be occupied replacing missing planks on the wharf and filling the many holes like this one that are along the wharf’s edge. The Atchafalaya River crested at 10.35 feet earlier this month and is still higher than normal.

An old tree on a vacant lot at Florida and Brashear in Morgan City fell last night during the heavy rainstorm that soaked this thirsty area. Nothing was damaged by the tree, but some of the branches put pressure on power lines. The city electrical department will free the lines from the limbs entangled in them. The rain gauge at the Berwick locks registered about 2.25 inches of rain Wednesday.
