Morgan City High School Students Against Destructive Decisions organization ended an observation of “Buckle Up for Safety” week with a parade around school during lunch promoting the decision to “Buckle Up!”  Students were given a duct tape “seatbelt” to wear during the school day. The SADD organization thanked Tiger Island Hardware for donating the duct tape for this event.

Third Ward Marshal’s Office Chief Deputy Teddy Deslatte, left, accepted a donation of two body armor vests to the marshal’s office from Andrew Jordan. Andrew raised money to purchase the vests as part of an Eagle Scout Project. He is a recent graduate of Highland Baptist Christian School of New Iberia and was accepted and received a Congressional nomination to the United States Military Academy at West Point. He had been disqualified for service due to a partial foot amputation at the age of five. He will be attending LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah to pursue a degree in international business and diplomacy.
