Berwick police responded to a call at 9:05 a.m. today of an 18-wheeler blocking the road on U.S. 90 in Berwick at Hollywood Truck Plaza. The roadway was cleared by 10:45 a.m., according to Berwick Police Chief James Richard.

A two-vehicle accident occurred around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday on La. 182 in front of Circle K in Morgan City. A 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis pulled off Grizzaffi Street turning west on La. 182 and pulled into the path of a 1998 Dodge pickup that was already headed west on La. 182 and caused a collision, according to Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch. Both people involved in the accident were taken to Teche Regional Medical Center by Acadian Ambulance with minor injuries, Crouch said. The driver of the 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis, Dontrey Triggs, 18, of Hickory Street in Patterson, was cited for failure to yield with an accident.

Teche Regional Medical Center of Morgan City on May 30 announced its tobacco-free campus, which started Saturday. Hospital staff had the opportunity to sign a banner promising a commitment to remain tobacco free for healthier living in the hospital’s meditation garden on May 30. Brown’s Jewelers donated Red & Ruby Heart earrings and pendant by designer Nicole Barr to be auctioned off at the 11th annual That Just Takes the Cake social to benefit the American Heart Association June 7 at the Petroleum Club of Morgan City, 500 Roderick St., Morgan City. The cocktail event will feature a photo booth for guests donated by Elegant Events of the South, silent auction, steak dinner, live cake auction and ending with music and dancing until midnight. Tickets, $50 each, are on sale by contacting Gwen Luc at 985-372-8520.
