Amelia Belle Casino presents Deep South Racing Association (DSRA’s) third annual Battle on the Basin Aug. 13-14 at Russo’s Landing in Morgan City.

Outboard powered race boats and teams will descend on Morgan City for two days of world championship caliber outboard drag racing excitement.

Racing classes will range from Performance Bass & Ski to the 1/8th mile “Outlaws” and “Unlimited” with several classes in between.

Speeds will range from the low 80-mph range in the stock classes to well in excess of 120 mph in ProGas, Unlimited and Outlaw classes. Morgan City is in the fourth race of a six-race schedule for the 2011 season.

Admission will be $10 per person; $10 per ice chest. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be sold at the race site.

DSRA is a regional racing sanction based in Arnaudville and sanctions races in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. The absolute most competitive racing on water can be found at any of the venues found on the Amelia Belle Casino/Evangeline Downs circuit.

Proceeds from the weekend festivities will benefit the Morgan City Volunteer Fire Department.

Complimentary shuttle service from the lakeside parking lot to the race site will be provided.

“We are looking forward to a great turnout of racers and spectators to enjoy a great weekend of racing that will support a worthy cause,” said Marvin Catrett, local event coordinator.
