Forty Hanson Memorial High School students arrived at their gym on a Friday night last month with decorated boxes ready for their “Sleep in a Box” night. The goal of the Student Council and the participants was to raise an awareness of Type I diabetes and raise funds to send to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. They played games, sang karaoke, watched movies and even slept for a few hours in their decorated boxes. A donation of $2,065 was sent in honor of LeighAnne Nugent. She gave her testimony about living with diabetes to the participants. Hanson’s hope for LeighAnne and all others with Type I diabetes is for a cure to be found and for them to live a long, healthy life.
