The schedule for the Atchafalaya Eastern Divisionals’ “Waves of Thunder” powerboat races set for this weekend at Lake Palourde will feature mornings of testing and afternoons of racing.
On Saturday and Sunday morning, testing will begin at 9 a.m. with Formula One class boats. It will be followed by testing in the Formula Lights’ class at 10 a.m., Tri-Hull (11 a.m.) and J-Hydro (11:30 a.m.).
After a driver’s meeting both days, afternoon racing is set to begin at 1 p.m.
On Sunday afternoon, finals are set with the J-Hydro class at 3:15 p.m., followed by the Formula Lights at 3:30 p.m., the Tri-Hulls, 4:30 p.m. and Formula Ones, 5 p.m.
In addition to the races, plenty of souvenirs will be available for purchase that feature this year’s logo, designed by Louie Dupuy of Morgan City.
Among the available items at the race site will be hats, koozies, T-shirts and tank tops.
