Patterson gained little ground in Class 3A while Central Catholic remained No. 1 in Class 1A, according to the latest Louisiana Sports Writers Association prep polls, which were released today.
Patterson, which picked up two dominating victories within the last week — a 68-33 victory against North Vermilion, who was ranked No. 10 last week and remained No. 10 this week, as well as a 72-24 victory against Berwick Friday — is receiving seven votes in this week’s poll. The ’Jacks received four votes in last week’s poll.
Last week’s win against North Vermilion was the second this season in District 9-3A play for Patterson.
Patterson (12-5 overall and 8-0 in District 9-3A play) will return to action today when it hosts Kaplan at approximately 7 p.m.
In Class 1A, Central Catholic (15-3) received eight of 10 first-place votes and 114 total points.
During the last week, the Eagles defeated Hanson, 93-46, and Vermilion Catholic, 78-47. The Eagles also defeated Central of Baton Rouge, 44-37, on Saturday in the Scotlandville/Madison Prep Hall of Fame Classic, which was an exhibition game.
Central Catholic will return to action today when it hosts Class 4A Vandebilt Catholic, the top vote-getter outside the Top 10 in the latest poll.
Central Catholic’s District 8-1A foe, Ascension Episcopal, slipped one spot from No. 6 to No. 7 in the latest Class 1A poll.
