MORGAN CITY — The Morgan City Tigers and the Patterson Lumberjacks both finished 2-0 in the Morgan City High School baseball varsity jamboree Saturday.

The Tigers defeated Franklin, 12-0, and West St. Mary, 10-0.

Patterson defeated West St. Mary, 10-1, and Assumption, 4-0.

Berwick finished with a win against Franklin, 6-2, and a 1-1 tie against Hanson Memorial.

In Morgan City’s win against Franklin, Nicholas Spinella earned the victory.

Against West St. Mary, Josh Glatter earned the win, and Ryan Veillion hit a home run.

In Patterson’s win against West St. Mary, Cameron Fontenot finished 2-for-2 with two RBI, while Jake LaGrange finished 1-for-1 with a double, two RBI and a run.

Other top Patterson contributors included Dallas Hamlett, 2-for-2, a double, an RBI and two runs; Kenny Singleton, 1-for-2, a double, an RBI and a run; and Bobby Jennings, 1-for-1, a double and an RBI.

Spencer Landry earned the win as he surrendered one unearned run, no hits, walked two and struck out four in two innings.

Against Assumption, Fontenot earned the win as he surrendered a hit, a walk and struck out four in two innings.

Singleton finished 1-for-1 with an RBI, while Bryce Tabor was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Landry scored a run and drove in another, and Hamlett had an RBI.

No individual statistics were available from Berwick’s contests.

Morgan City and Berwick will open their seasons Thursday when they participate in Morgan City’s A&E Basin Bengal Classic. Morgan City will play H.L. Bourgeois at 6 p.m. in Morgan City, while Berwick will play Ellender, also at 6 p.m., in Berwick.

Patterson will open its season Thursday at its annual tournament. The ’Jacks will conclude the first day’s action in Patterson with a 7:45 p.m. contest against E.D. White.

Central Catholic falls

to South Lafourche

South Lafourche edged Central Catholic, 9-8, at the Central Lafourche Jamboree Saturday.

While Central Catholic outhit South Lafourche, 10-5, the Eagles walked eight batters and made four errors.

Austin Autin led Central Catholic with a 2-for-2 performance, while Charlie Barron finished 2-for-3.

Central Catholic will open its season Thursday when it participates in the Patterson Tournament. Central Catholic will play Westgate at 4:30 p.m. at the Eagles’ field in Amelia.
