The forensic anthropologist conducting the autopsy of human remains found in a Centerville sugar cane field Friday said preliminary results will be ready in one to two weeks.

Director of Louisiana State University’s FACES Laboratory Mary H. Manhein said this morning that her team brought the remains back to her lab Monday.

A final report will take several weeks to complete, she added. She declined to reveal the sex of the deceased, citing the ongoing police investigation.

KWBJ-TV reports that Sheriff Mark Hebert told them he hopes to have some questions answered as soon as next week.

Repeated attempts by The Daily Review to reach Hebert this morning were not successful.
