101st Airborne general gets Fort Polk command

FORT POLK – New commander Brig. Gen. Bill Hickman has been appointed for Fort Polk and the Army’s Joint Readiness Training Center in Vernon Parish.

He was previously deputy commanding general for support of the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Ky.

He succeeds Brig. Gen. Clarence K.K. Chinn.

A brigade from the 101st begins training at Fort Polk in January.

Hickman, a 29-year soldier, is a Vanderbilt graduate.
