The ninth annual Memorial Freedom Ride will be held Saturday.

Normally held Memorial Day weekend, it was moved to accommodate participants affected by potential flooding.

Sponsored by the Marine Corps League, St. Mary Detachment and American Legion Post 96, the ride begins at Post 96 and ends at VFW Post 4222. Legion Post 96 is located at the corner of La. 182 and Everett Street in Morgan City and VFW Post 4222 is located on Sandra Street in Morgan City.

The purpose of the ride is to remember fallen military personnel by placing wreaths in remembrance at Memorial Markers and Memorial Walls at American Legion and VFW halls, and memorial parks.

Monies raised will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.

Registration is $20 per bike and $15 per passenger Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Last bike out is set for 9 a.m. A 50-50 drawing will be available.

Ride participants have the opportunity to make a donation for breakfast supplied by Boy Scout Troop 40 and Cub Scout Pack 438. Breakfast offerings include sausage, pancakes, orange juice, milk and coffee.

After the ride, participants will be treated to a crawfish boil and music by a disc jockey.

The public is invited to purchase crawfish Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
