Abbeville used a combination of good pitching and timely hitting to thrwart the Hornets, who managed three hits on the day.
Franklin hurlers Duncan McLeod and Allen Randle saw mound duties with McLeod suffering the loss. McLeod allowed 11 runs (3 earned) with three strikeouts and no walks over 3 2/3 frames. Randle pitched the final 1 1/3 innings, yielding two runs with two walks.
Brandon McFarlane led the Hornets in hitting with a 2 for 3 effort with a triple, two RBI and a run. Micheal Lee went 1 for 2 with a run while Roderick Brown scored one run.
Franklin (0-1 in district) will travel to take on Abbeville in District 9-3A on Thursday at 6 p.m.
