Emergency Aid Center, Inc. of Franklin is the 2011 Agency of the Year for United Way for South Louisiana. At the organization's campaign kickoff and annual awards ceremony in Houma last week, Martha Verdin, United Way board member, presented the rotating award to EAC board chairperson Chuck Autin and Executive Director Patti Ibert. The ``little agency with the big heart'' as Ibert called it, received the commendation for an agency that goes above and beyond assisting families and their communities.
