The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office has released an updated, more detailed description of shooting suspects and their vehicle from a New Year’s Eve shooting shortly before midnight in Amelia, according to a Friday afternoon sheriff’s office news release.

Detectives received new information indicating that two masked black males drove to Westside Park Lane in what is believed to be an older model Chevy pickup truck that is black in front and greenish in color in back, the release stated.

The victim, who was found with two gunshot wounds to the upper torso, was taken to a local hospital where he is now listed in stable condition.

One of the suspects was armed with a gun. The victim confronted the gunman and was shot, according to the release. One of the male suspects may have been wearing camouflage-type clothing.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the complaint of a shooting at 12:01 a.m. Jan. 1 at the 100 block of Westside Park Lane in Amelia.

Anyone who may have information on the crime is asked to call the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives Division at 985-384-1622 or 337-828-1960.
