CROWLEY – An employee is accused of killing dogs being held for adoption at the City of Crowley Animal Shelter.

Police said Friday that Michael Edwards is charged with three counts of aggravated cruelty to animals one of malfeasance in office and five of obstruction of justice.

It has been alleged that dozens of dogs were killed over an extended period of time.

Police would not comment on that assertion.

It has been reported that someone mowing grass near the shelter found remains of apparently decapitated dogs.

Carcasses with chips embedded at the Crowley shelter were also found near Jennings and Iota, it is alleged.
