A Morgan City man causing a disturbance at his girlfriend’s apartment was arrested for drug possession Friday.

Phi Duval, 27, of North Third Street was charged at 11:32 p.m. and charged with disturbing the peace, remaining where forbidden and possession of a Schedule IV narcotic.

Officers were called to the North Street residence of Duval and his girlfriend in reference to a disturbance. Duval had been removed from the residence several hours earlier and told not to return. On the second call, officers were advised that he had returned and again was causing a disturbance, MCPD Chief Marc Folse said.

When officers arrived, Duval was located near the bottom of the stairway leading up to the apartment. He was arrested and, during the booking process, was found to be in possession of a bottle containing several blue, oval-shaped pills identified as Alprazolam (Xanax). He did not have a valid prescription for the pills, the chief said.

Duval remained incarcerated this morning with no bond set.

Shawn Pollard, 25, of Park Street in Patterson was charged Sunday at 9 p.m. with theft by shoplifting.

Officers were called to Ganaway’s #1 food store in reference to a subject who ran out of the store carrying a bottle of MD 20/20.

The caller advised that Pollard was last seen running east on Belanger Street. Upon arrival in the area of Sixth and Belanger streets, officers found him attempting to hide behind a large oak tree.

Pollard remained incarcerated this morning with no bond set.

Rachel Fabre, 26, of Mike Drive in Patterson was arrested Friday at 5:11 p.m. for theft by shoplifting and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of speeding, expired motor vehicle inspection and left mirror required.

Bayou Vista Wal-Mart store security called St. Mary sheriff’s deputies to the store after they observed Fabre concealing items valued at $214.30 in her purse, Sheriff Mark Hebert said.

Fabre was booked into the parish jail where she remained incarcerated this morning in lieu of a $1,823.50 bond.

Elsewhere, Cristobal Juarez Bertadillo, 30, of Taylor Road in Amelia was arrested Friday at 6:46 p.m. for speeding and operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the United States.

A deputy was patrolling La. 182 in the Amelia area when he observed Bertadillo’s vehicle speeding and conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation, it was learned that he was illegally in the United States, Hebert said.

Bertadillo was arrested and booked into the parish jail where he remained this morning with no bond set.
