Parish deputies arrested two alleged thieves Wednesday.

Robert Phillip, 53, of Clarke Road in Bayou Vista was arrested at 1:08 p.m. for theft by shoplifting.

A deputy was called to Walmart in Bayou Vista in reference to a shoplifter. Upon the deputy’s arrival, store security advised that the suspect was observed taking a Dremel bit valued at $5.88 and concealing it on his person, Sheriff Mark Hebert said. After investigation, Phillip was placed under arrest and issued a summons to appear in court on June 26.

Near Patterson, Neil Stelly, 47, of Kaplan was arrested at 3:25 p.m. for illegal possession of stolen things.

A deputy was called to Harry P. Williams Memorial Airport. When the deputy arrived, he learned from the foreman that Stelly was found to be in possession of a controller belonging to Apache Corp., Hebert said. After investigation, Stelly was placed under arrest and booked into the parish jail with no bond at this time.
