Arrests of three men previously incarcerated in the parish jail were made on MCPD warrants Tuesday.

All three were arrested at the parish jail at 10:09 a.m. Tuesday.

Anthony R. Variet, 24, of Cleveland Street in Patterson was charged with unauthorized entry of inhabited dwelling, simple kidnapping, simple battery and probation violation.

The warrant stems from a June 2 incident in which officers responded to a disturbance in the 100 block of Third Street. Upon their arrival, they found a female victim bleeding from the head. She had been previously dating Variet, but he did not live with her.

On the evening of the incident, Variet gained entry through a rear window of her residence and approached the victim in the living area. He began to yell at her and strike her about the head causing a laceration. He then told her “You’re coming with me,” and tried to remove her from the residence, Chief Marc Folse said.

The victim resisted and Variet dragged her from inside the house into the yard where she was able to break free and he left the area, the chief added.

Officers filed the above charges based on the incident and investigation. There also was an active probation violation warrant for Variet.

He remained incarcerated this morning with no bond set.

Elsewhere, Dwayne D. Francis, 23, La. 182 in Morgan City was arrested on warrants for distribution of crack cocaine, and distribution of marijuana.

Folse said Francis is charged with selling cocaine and marijuana to an undercover police officer during Operation November Rain.

Francis remained incarcerated this morning in lieu of a $150,000 bond.

Travis L. Ray, 21, of Duke Street in Morgan City was arrested on a warrant for conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

Ray is charged with entering into a conspiracy with another individual to distribute marijuana during the long term undercover operation November Rain, the chief said.

Ray was booked into city jail where he remained incarcerated this morning in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

A Morgan City teen was arrested late Monday night for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

Michael Thompson, 17, of Fifth Street was charged at 11:50 p.m. after a St. Mary sheriff's deputy patrolling the Amelia area conducted an investigation after finding three subjects sitting in a vehicle on Friendship Alley. The deputy observed a crack rock under the driver’s seat, Sheriff Mark Hebert said.

Thompson remained incarcerated this morning with no bond set.
