Assault charges ;ead spate of recent local arrests

An assault on a police officer and a sexual assault on a nine-year-old girl were among arrests made in the area over the weekend.

Morgan City Police Chief Marc Folse said a drunken disturbance at a function Saturday resulted in injury to an officer and a felony battery charge for the suspect.

Matthew Garces, 22, of Carter Street in Berwick was arrested at 10:33 p.m. Saturday for appearing in public intoxicated, resisting an officer with force, two counts of public intimidation of an official and felony battery on a police officer.

The officer sustained a serious knee injury and facial bruising after scuffling with Garces. During the encounter, Garces also threatened to kill two officers, Folse said.

The officer was treated at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City and released. Garces remained incarcerated this morning with no bond set.

According to Sheriff Mark A. Hebert, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office made the following arrests:

—A male juvenile, 15, of Bayou Vista was arrested at 9:09 p.m. Saturday for indecent behavior with a juvenile. Arrest stems from an investigation of a 9-year-old female juvenile being molested by suspect. After an investigation, the male juvenile was placed under arrest, processed and released to guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

—John D. Foyt, 59, of McIlhenny Street, New Iberia, was arrested on at 2:39 p.m. Monday for theft by shoplifting for allegedly removing tags from and concealing merchandise valued at $48.60 at the Wal-Mart in Bayou Vista. Issued a summons to appear in court on Aug. 9.

—Sable A. Leal, 22, of Clement Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:15 p.m. Monday in the Amelia area on warrants for city court of Morgan City for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana and probation violation. Booked into the parish jail and later transferred to Morgan City Police Department jail.

—Shane Stratton, 22, of General Hodges Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:21 p.m. Monday on warrants for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of ecstasy and possession of Seroquel. He was also charged with possession of marijuana second offense and possession of drug paraphernalia. Booked into the parish jail with no bond yet set.

—Michel Cothron, 50, of Clark Road, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:34 p.m. Friday for driving under suspension after hitting a traffic sign with her vehicle and being taken to TRMC. Issued summons to appear in court on Sept. 12.

—Matthew J. Miller, 18, of General Clark St., Morgan City, and Deshaune K. Charles, 22, of Ross Lane, Bayou Vista, were arrested at 9:46 p.m. Friday for possession of marijuana with Miller also being charged with distribution of marijuana. Booked into the parish jail, with Miller having a $5,000 bond and Charles having a $2,000 bond. Both were later released.

—Randy Heuring, 36, of Neptune Street, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:44 p.m. Friday for disturbing the peace intoxicated and criminal trespass. He is alleged to have gone to another Neptune Street home intoxicated, making noise, and refusing to leave. Booked into the parish jail with a $750 bond and later released.

—Odie Guillory, 30, of Francis Street, Berwick, was arrested at 12:15 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for Thibodaux Police Department for failure to appear on the charge of red light violation. Booked into the parish jail and later transferred to Thibodaux Police Department.

—Shazia Gaudet, 21, of Judy Lane, Patterson, and Tyler Sultan, 20, of Ninth Street, Franklin, were arrested at 11:36 p.m. on Saturday for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling with Sultan also being charged with criminal damage to property. They are alleged to have entered a residence on Hebert Street, Franklin, without consent. Booked into the parish jail with Gaudet having a $5,000 bond and Sultan having a $6,000 bond, both later being released.

—Carl L. Lucas, 66, of Shannon Street, Patterson, was arrested at 12:20 a.m. Sunday at the Patterson Truck Stop on two warrants for Lafourche Parish for failure to appear on the charge of speeding. Booked into parish jail with an $11,000 bond.

—Reynol López Roblero, 26, of Barrow Street, Amelia, was arrested at 8:39 p.m. Sunday for operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the United States and improper lane usage. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area observed López’s vehicle cross the fog line several times. Booked into the parish jail with no bond yet set.

—Jermaine S. Keys, 36, and Whitney Thomas, 24, both of Grace Street, Siracusaville, were arrested at 2:20 a.m. Monday for domestic abuse battery and possession of Flexeril. Both were booked into the parish jail with no bonds yet set.

Also arrested by the Morgan City Police Department over the weekend were:

—Ruben Garza, 51, of Thibodaux at 5 p.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to pay traffic fines. Released on bond of $398.50 and turned over to Terrebonne Sheriff’s Department.

—Phillip Lodrigue, 32, of Two Sisters Court, Bayou Vista at 8:03 a.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. Released after posting $282 bond.

—Jerry Landry, 33, of Ridgeway Drive, Morgan City at 10:34 p.m. Saturday for careless operation with an accident and hit and run driving. Released on $817 bond.

—Jonathan Beadle, 22, of Charlotte Street, Patterson at 12:15 a.m. Saturday for simple battery, simple criminal damage to property and resisting an officer. Released on $1,646 bond.

—Alfred Francois, 47, of Duke Street, Morgan City at 3:03 p.m. Saturday for city court warrants for failure to appear for trial on disturbing the peace and criminal damage to property. Still incarcerated on $1,000 bond.

—Randy Segura Jr., 25, of Halsey Street, Morgan City at 1:48 p.m. Sunday for a city court bench warrant and first offense possession of marijuana. Still incarcerated on $896 bond.

—Bobby Mote, 52, of Aycock Street, Morgan City at 3:08 p.m. Sunday for operating a vehicle with a suspended license and open container. Released on $501 bond.

—Rebecca B. Martin, 40, of Keith Street, Morgan City at 4:27 a.m. Monday for disturbing the peace. Released on $282 bond.

The Patterson Police Department made several arrests over the weekend and overnight, according to Chief Patrick M. LaSalle.

—Warren Bartley, 50, of Murphy Street, Patterson, was arrested around Plum and Taft Streets at 9:41 p.m. on Monday for no driver’s license and no insurance. Released after paying $400 fine.

—Amethyst Lewis, 20, of Douglas Drive, Patterson, was arrested around Main Street at 12:30 a.m. today for no head lights and no driver’s license. Remains incarcerated pending $430 fine.

—Russell Joseph Andras, 72, of Landry Lane, Morgan City, was arrested Saturday at 5:55 p.m. for driving left of center, no seat belt and driving while intoxicated first offense. Released on $3,000 bond.

—Midge Ann Fulmer, 54, of Shady Grove Lane, Patterson, was arrested at 2 a.m. Sunday on U.S. 90 near Red Cypress Road for improper lane usage and driving while intoxicated first offense. Transported to parish jail and remains incarcerated.

—Lance Charles Bollodeau, 20, of Kelly Drive, Patterson, was arrested at 11:56 p.m. on Sunday on U.S. 90 at Veterans Drive for driving while intoxicated first offense, improper lane usage, and open container. Released on $2,000 bond.

—Barrett Christopher Cast, 32, of La. 182, Patterson, was arrested at 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Veterans Boulevard for simple battery domestic and simple criminal damage to property. Remains incarcerated with no bond yet set.

—Glenn Arthur Boyd, 51, General Hodges Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:06 a.m. Sunday for driving while intoxicated first offense and improper lane usage. Remains incarcerated with no bond yet set.

—Carlos Lombas, 45, of Todd Lane, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:24 p.m. Saturday on Park Street for driving while intoxicated first offense and driving left of center. Remains incarcerated with no bond yet set.

—An unnamed juvenile, age 14, was arrested Saturday on Leo Drive, charged with ungovernable juvenile. Later released to parents.

—Joshua Jones, 22, of Prados Lane, Centerville, was arrested at 6 a.m. Saturday on First Street for obscenity. Fine of $324 paid.

—Armando Alvarado-Ortiz, 32, of Riverview Drive, Patterson, was arrested at 3:32 a.m. Saturday near the corner of Mill Road and Main Street for driving while intoxicated first offense and improper lane usage. Incarcerated with no bond yet.

—Ebonie Francois, 24, of Canal Road, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:03 p.m. Friday on Main Street in Patterson for theft. Transported to parish jail. No bond information available.

—Carl Murray Jr., 18, of Tiffany Street, Patterson, was arrested at 8:20 p.m. Sunday at his home for simple battery. Remains incarcerated with a $361 bond.
