The Church of the Assumption in Franklin and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office helped bring Christmas joy to approximately 200 children across the parish with toys donated by church members and delivered by deputies. For 12 years the sheriff’s office has participated in the gifting program by collecting the names, addresses and wish lists of inmates’ children. As part of the Advent Giving Program, parishioners of the church fill these wish lists and take on the task of organizing and packaging them for delivery. Sheriff’s employees drive vans loaded down with toy filled bags and bicycles from one end of the parish to the other delivering the gifts to the parents and guardians of the inmates’ children. Sheriff Mark Hebert, left, and Assumption pastor the Rev. Father Lloyd Francis Benoit Jr. are pictured above with items donated by church members
