A Franklin man has been charged with attempted second-degree murder.

Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported that John Christopher Antoine, 31, of 1035-A Cayce St., Franklin, was arrested Friday at 6:04 p.m.

Officers responded to a “large disturbance” on Cayce Street Friday and found Gary Jones, of Franklin, lying in a doorway unconscious, bleeding from the nose and mouth.

Police learned that Jones had been beaten but that no weapons were used. He was transported to Franklin Foundation Hospital and then to Lafayette General Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Antoine was apprehended while hiding after attempting to evade officers. No bond was set.
