MARKSVILLE - A drug sweep resulted in 21 arrests, including 16 suspected drug dealers as well as seizure of hundreds of packets of incense and bath salts.

Sheriff Doug Anderson said Monday’s sweep targeted people who allegedly sold a variety of drugs to undercover officers.

He said some of the drugs purchased by the narcotics agents were crack cocaine, marijuana and various prescription pain medications.

Additionally, officers allegedly purchased illegal synthetic marijuana and bath salts, which are recent fad drugs that became illegal last week.

Deputies seized more than 200 packets of incense and bath salts at a pizza parlor and motel in Simmesport. The packets were valued at an estimated $11,000.
