B&G Food Enterprises, headquartered in Morgan City, announced Tuesday the largest acquisition in the 30 year history of the company with the addition of 24 restaurants in the Houston metro area.

B&G Chairman Gregory J. Hamer Sr. said that through its affiliated entity, B&G Food Enterprises of Texas LLC, B&G has acquired 24 operating Taco Bell, Taco Bell/Long John Silvers, Taco Bell/Pizza Hut and Taco Bell/ KFC restaurants.

The company already has been operating in Houston for the past 15 years.

“We are excited at this opportunity to expand our foot print in Texas … which brings our restaurant count in the Houston Metro to 39,” Hamer said in a news release.

With the new acquisition, the company now has one restaurant apiece in the communities of Angleton, Baytown, Channelview, Dickinson, Friendswood, Galveston, Laporte, League City, Magnolia, Pearland, Seabrook, Sugarland and Webster, as well as two in Katy and Pasadena, three each in Humble, Spring and The Woodlands, and 13 in Houston.

With Houston being the fourth largest metro area in the United States, B&G management said they feel that the new restaurants will offer enhanced opportunities to develop additional restaurants and offer additional opportunities for advancement for their almost 2,000 employees.

B&G now operates 84 restaurants under the brands of Taco Bell, KFC, Long John Silver, Pizza Hut and Teriyaki Experience.

Both the corporate headquarters and the Restaurant Support Center are located in Morgan City.
