A HYPERTUFA workshop was held for Bayou Vista Garden Club members recently. BVGC Vice President and Program Chairman Donna Bucci and BVGC member Jo Ann Ryan conducted the workshop. Hypertufa, an artificial stone, was concocted to be used as a substitute for the natural rock called tufa. It is often used to create plant containers, stepping stones and garden art objects. Basic hypertufa recipe ingredients are varying combinations of Portland cement, peat moss, sand, perlite or vermiculite, and water. Participating in the workshop were Nancy Marcel, Janice Verret, Kim Alcina, Gloria Roy, Jean Chauvin and Jennie Aucoin.
