Basile Bobcats down Hanson Memorial Tigers

Kevin Hardy scored three touchdowns, leading the Basile Bobcats to a 40-16 win over the Hanson Memorial Tigers in non-district action Friday at McCloskey Field.

Hanson (2-3) secured a 2-0 lead on a safety in the opening moments of the first quarter before the Bobcats stormed back to post the victory.

Basile’s Jaime Deshotel scored on a 26 yard pass from quarterback Trenton Pelloquin wiped out the 2-0 deficit, replacing it with a 6-2 with 2:20 showing on the clock.

Hardy scored the first of his three touchdowns on a six-yard run before Pelloquin hit pay dirt from nine yards in the third quarter as the Bobcats took a 20-2 lead in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Hardy scored on a one yard run, giving BHS a 27-2 advantage.

Hanson Memorial scored its touchdowns when quar-terback Beau Barrilleaux tossed a one-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Stewart and Beau LeBlanc returned a fumble 39 yards during the fourth quarter.

Collin Broussard led the Tigers in rushing with 70 yards on 11 carries while Drake Businelle finished with 16 carries for 54 yards.

Beau Barrilleaux connect-ed on four completions for 38 yards and one touchdown.

Businelle hauled in two passes for 30 yards with Royce Norton grabbing one pass for seven yards and Jacob Stewart making one catch for the one-yard touchdown.

Hanson (2-3) will play host to Vermilion Catholic on Thursday to open District 8-A action.
