MORGAN CITY, La. -- Routine maintenance will have the Bayou Boeuf locks along the Intracoastal Waterway between Morgan City and Avoca Island closed until 5 p.m. Thursday, according to Lt. Jay Michalczak of the United States Coast Guard.
“During that time, they allowed vessels to transit through. This delay should not impact the overall repair schedule which should be complete on the 20th,” he said.
Michalczak said that such maintenance occurs “a couple of times a year.”
Vessels that normally pass through that part of Bayou Boeuf can take various alternative routes, including Bayou Chene, he said.
