Berwick Police nab two fugitives

Two cousins, fugitives from parishes in other parts of Louisiana with multiple warrants, were picked up shortly after midnight by the Berwick Police Department, with one also being charged by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for an additional charge.

Ricky D. Morse Jr., 31, of Hwy. 190 East, Robert, was arrested today at 12:17 a.m. for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sheriff’s deputies along with officers of the BPD went to the Sleep Inn and Suites in reference to suspects at the room having warrants for their arrest.

During the investigation, deputies observed drug paraphernalia on a dresser in the room and also observed a bag of marijuana. After investigation, Morse was placed under arrest on the above charges and issued a summons to appear in court on July 11. Morse was then turned over to BPD for numerous outstanding warrants on charges including:

—Failure to appear, simple battery, Tangipahoa Parish.

—Failure to appear, operation of a clandestine lab, possession of controlled dangerous substance, Tangipahoa Parish.

—Simple battery, Tangipahoa Parish.

—Switched license plates, Tangipahoa Parish

—Driving under suspension, Tangipahoa Parish.

—No seat-belt, Tangipahoa Parish.

—Driving under suspension, Tangipahoa Parish.

—No tail-light, Tangipahoa Parish.

—Possession of marijuana, Hammond Police Department.

His cousin was also arrested on five outstanding warrants, all from Sabine Parish.

Terry Morse, 27, Middle Ridge Road, Cameron, was arrested at 12:04 a.m. at Sleep Inn and Suites on three warrants for issuing worthless checks and two warrants for theft over $500.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office also arrested the following:

—Billy M. McFadden, 28, of North Starrett Road, Metairie, arrested Wednesday at 4:04 p.m. for simple criminal damage to property at Mike’s Lounge in Amelia. Issued a summons to appear in court on July 11.

The Morgan City Police Department arrested the following, and all remain incarcerated with no bonds yet set:

—Todd Trahan, 22, of Galliano, arrested Wednesday at 7:19 p.m. for unauthorized use of a movable.

—Jason Gaskins, 29, of Amelia, arrested Wednesday at 7:37 p.m. on warrants for St. Mary Parish Sheriff Office for domestic abuse battery and aggravated assault.

—Sonja Webb, 48, of Berwick, arrested Wednesday at 10:08 p.m. on a warrant for telephone harassment.
