Berwick man accused of exposing himself at Lake End Park

A Berwick man was arrested for exposing his private parts on the walking trail at Lake End Park Sunday, according to Morgan City Assistant Chief Glenn Blanco.

—Mario Gross, 25, of Oregon Street, Berwick, was arrested at 8:29 a.m. Sunday for obscenity and probation violation. Police received a call to go to Lake End Park in reference to someone exposing himself on the walking trail. Witnesses later advised that Gross had left in a black Chevrolet truck. They gave officers a license plate number, and the vehicle was located on Brashear Avenue and Fourth Street. He remains jailed with bail not set.

The Morgan City Police Department also reported the following arrests over the weekend according to Blanco:

—Brett Jackson, 23, of McKinzie Street, Cantonment, Fla., was arrested at La. 182 and Greenwood Street at 5:23 a.m. Friday and charged with speeding (58mph in a 45mph zone) and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains jailed on an $898 bail.

—Walter Linson, 36, of Elm Grove, Scotlandville, was arrested at 5:02 p.m. Friday on four counts of attempted possession of a controlled-dangerous substance (Lortab, Xanax, Soma and Roxicodone.) He was arrested at the St. Mary Pharmacy after submitting a fraudulent prescription. He remains jailed with bail not set.

—Aaron Butler, 36, of Bowie Street, White Castle, was arrested at 5:02 a.m. Saturday for improper lane usage and driving while intoxicated first offense. An officer observed him crossing the center line on La. 70 near Lake End Park. He submitted to both the field sobriety test and the intoxilyzer test. The intoxilyzer test result was .149g.

—Anita Steel, 37, of Freret Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:36 p.m. Saturday for simple battery. She remains jailed with bail not set.

—Kelvin Releford, 47, of Military Highway, Pineville, was arrested at 9:01 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Fourth Street and Louisiana Alley for lack of a license plate light, possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains jailed with bail not set.

—William Cappello, 37, of Hanging Moss Circle, Tampa, Fla., was arrested at 12:22 p.m. Sunday near Lake End Park for driving while intoxicated first offense and careless operation. He crashed his vehicle near Lake End Park, the report stated. He submitted to a field sobriety test and an intoxilyzer test, with a result of .156g, police report. He remains jailed with bail not set.

—Jashmand Paddio, 20, of Railroad Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:55 p.m. Sunday for theft in response to a report of a stolen cellular phone from the Morgan City High School football stadium. He remains jailed with bail not set.

—David Blair, 35, of Bush Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:48 p.m. Sunday for hit and run driving, driving under suspension and careless operation after a vehicle crash at Brashear and Federal avenues. Witnesses had followed the vehicle to Blair’s residence. There were no injuries reported in the crash. Blair was released on an unspecified bail amount.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests over the weekend, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert:

—Celeste Nicole Naverre, 30, of Cherry Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:53 a.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana second offense. The Morgan City Police Department contacted the sheriff’s office about Naverre upon detaining her. She remains jailed with bail not set.

—Mindy Lynn Cross, 17, of Belanger Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:45 p.m. Friday at the Walmart in Bayou Vista for theft. She was released on a summons to appear. in court in January.
