Two Berwick men were arrested early Tuesday morning after they crashed the vehicle they allegedly stole.

Kenneth L. Mcdonald, 26, and Michael Moore, 24, both of Berwick, were charged at 4:09 a.m. Tuesday with illegal possession of stolen things, public intimidation and disturbing the peace while intoxicated.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said a deputy responded to a complaint of a single vehicle crash on U.S. 90 near Delmar Road in Bayou Vista where he found a vehicle in a ditch along the highway.

The vehicle matched a description of one that had been reported stolen in Berwick. During the course of the investigation, the deputy received a description of two men believed to be involved in the crash. Mcdonald and Moore were located on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista with mud on their clothes and shoes. Upon further investigation, the deputy matched the suspects’ shoes with shoe prints found in the mud at the site of the crash, Hebert said.

Mcdonald and Moore remained jailed this morning with no bail set.
