BERWICK — The Berwick Lady Panthers routed Covenant Christian Academy in nondistrict play Friday with a 35-15 victory.

Abigail Ohlin led the Lady Panthers with 11 points, while Khadijah Johnson added eight points in the victory.

The Lady Panthers (8-13 overall, 3-6 in District 9-3A play) will continue district action Tuesday when it hosts Kaplan in district play. Junior varsity girls’ action is set for 5 p.m., with varsity girls play to follow at 6 p.m.

Earlier this season, Berwick defeated Kaplan on the road, 28-25.

CCHS remains undefeated in district play

Central Catholic raced out to a 22-1 first-quarter lead en route to a 61-20 victory in District 8-1A action in Morgan City Friday.

After the first quarter, Central Catholic took a 30-5 advantage into halftime and a 44-11 lead after three quarters.

Meo Knight led Central Catholic with a double-double with 14 points and 12 steals along with eight rebounds and four assists, while Randi Brown added 14 points, six steals, five assists, three rebounds and a block.

Other top Central Catholic contributors included Megan Landry, nine points, two rebounds, one assists and one steal; Makayla McDaniel, eight points, three steals, one assists and two rebounds; Caroline Byrne, eight points, four steals and one assist; and Abbie Bergeron, two points, one block, four steals and one assist.

Central Catholic will return to action today when it hosts University Lab in nondistrict play at 5:30 p.m. University Lab was ranked No. 1 in the last week’s Louisiana Sports Writers’ Association Class 2A poll, while Central Catholic was No. 2 in last week’s Class 1A poll.

Patterson falls to Abbeville

Abbeville raced out to a 13-0 lead after a period of play in route to a 58-17 victory against Patterson Friday in Abbeville.

Abbeville, the sixth-ranked squad in the latest Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 3A poll, took a 24-6 lead into halftime and a 39-11 lead after three quarters.

Tala Johnson led Patterson with six points, eight rebounds, two blocks and a steal, while Nakia Brooks added four points, three rebounds, two steals and a block and Jamile Tate added three points, three rebounds, three blocks and a steal.

Patterson (3-15 overall, 2-7 in district play) will return to action Friday when it travels to Franklin for District 9-3A play.

Earlier this season in Patterson, the ’Jills defeated Franklin, 56-34.

Morgan City falls to South Terrebonne

Morgan City fell to South Terrebonne, 57-51, in District 8-4A action in Bourg Thursday.

No individual statistics were available for Morgan City.

The Lady Tigers (7-17 overall, 1-5 in district play) will continue district action Tuesday when they host third-ranked Vandebilt Catholic. The varsity girls’ contest is set for a 6 p.m. tip.
