KAPLAN — The Berwick Lady Panthers defeated Kaplan, 28-25, in District 9-3A action Friday.

The win, the second consecutive for the Lady Panthers (the first time they’ve won back-to-back games this season), also was their first in district play this season.

While Berwick trailed 9-4 at the end of the first period, by the end of the third quarter, both teams were tied at 17.

Berwick was aided in the fourth quarter by poor free throw shooting by Kaplan, which made just four of 10 attempts in the period.

Abigail Ohlin and Khadijah Johnson led Berwick with nine points apiece.

The Lady Panthers (5-10 overall, 1-3 in District 9-3A play) will try to keep their momentum going Tuesday when they host Abbeville. Junior varsity girls’ action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity girls to follow at 6 p.m.
