Books close Wednesday for March 24 primary

Books will close on Wednesday for the March 24 Presidential Preference Primary, according to Registrar of Voters Jolene Holcombe.

The Presidential Preference is a closed primary and voters must vote their party. Anyone wishing to change their party affiliation or register to vote in this election, must do so by the close of books.

Early voting for the March 24 election begins on Saturday, March 10 and continues through Saturday, March 17. Hours for early voting are 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Early voting will be conducted at the Registrar’s Office on the third floor of the courthouse and also at the Registrar’s branch office in Morgan City at 301 Third St. Voters may cast ballots at either office regardless of their address.

The following issues are on the ballot: Presidential Nominee (Democratic Party); Presidential Nominee (Republican Party); and Member, Republican State Central Committee, 50th Representative Dist. Subdistrict B.
