Borne takes oath of office

Vincent J. Borne took the oath of office Wednesday to become the newest judge of the 16th Judicial District Court comprised of St. Mary, Iberia and St. Martin parishes. Borne was elected unopposed to fill the seat vacated by Judge John Conery who now sits on the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals. Borne was sworn in by Louisiana Supreme Court Judge John L. Weimer, left, with his wife, Robin Borne, and sons, Noah, Nicholas and Nathan, by his side. Borne is a Franklin native who has been an assistant district attorney with the 16th JDC for the past 16 years. He received his bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and juris doctor’s degree from the School of Law at Loyola University in New Orleans. Well-wishers crowded the 6th floor large courtroom in Franklin for the event.
