Friday morning a giant statue of a butcher was placed on top of Cannata’s Supermarket in Morgan City. Hans Geist of Houma designed the statue and also did all of the other artwork at this store as well as the East and West Houma stores. Geist said the 600-pound painted foam and fiberglass statue took almost six months to finish. “Mostly what I do is paint murals. This is the first time I’ve ever really attempted a statue like this,” Geist said.
