“People Helping People” continues to be the common theme as St. Mary Community Action Agency Inc. continues to serve the community despite state and federal budget cuts.

“For the agency, the goal has always been to alleviate poverty for low-income families,” Chief Executive Officer Almetra J. Franklin said. “The best way to present practical solutions to sustainability and stability for new business owners is through Operation Jumpstart, which is micro-enterprise training for aspiring entrepreneurs.”

In conjunction with earlier programs such as the revolving loan program, and homebuyer’s classes, St. Mary CAA has implemented other successful service programs, and sustained a credible track record, Franklin said.

Operation Jump Start will focus on learned skills such as business concept development, market research and analysis as well as pricing and financial projections. All classes are taught by certified instructors.
