Flores was awarded the opportunity to join a select group of 250 students from across the country to participate in an intensive week-long study of journalism and media. The Central Catholic High School student was chosen based on academic accomplishments and a demonstrated interest and excellence in journalism and media studies.
Flores, of Morgan City, will participate with other national youth correspondents in hands-on, experiential learning through decision-making simulations that challenge them to solve problems and explore the creative, practical and ethical tensions inherent in journalism and media. The experiential portion of the program is complemented by speakers who are well-known leaders in the media community.
The week-long program, held on the George Mason University campus located minutes from Washington, D.C., encourages and inspires young leaders from across the country who desire a unique experience focused on successful careers in media.
The conference will be held July 8-13.
