Cecile Imelda “Melda” Thibodaux, 98, a resident of Patterson, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma.
Melda is survived by one son, Melvin Barras of Bayou Vista; four daughters, Virgie Crappell of Branch, Hilda Daigle of Bayou Vista, Joyce Barras of Patterson and Charlotte Pennison and husband Louis of Bayou L’Ourse; two daughters-in-law, Flavia Barras of Amelia and Dorsey Barras of Bayou Vista; 19 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Melda was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Victoria Verrett; her first husband, Jesse Theodore Barras; her second husband, Bunk Joseph Thibodaux; two sons, Gilman Barras and Horace Barras; one grandson, Edward J. Daigle Jr.; one great-grandson, Jean’ Alexander Daigle; four brothers and five sisters.
Visitation was held Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at Twin City Funeral Home, 6-9 p.m., and resumed today, Feb. 6, 2012, at the funeral home at 8 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
Melda was laid to rest in the Ibert’s Cemetery in Patterson.
