Centerville opens on a winning note

CENTERVILLE — Rodrick Taylor, Quinton Nettles and Zacchaeus Jackson all scored in double figures, leading the Centerville Bulldogs to a lop-sided 94-36 triumph over the Hope Academy Eagles of Baton Rouge here Friday at the CHS Gym.

Centerville (1-0) dominated from the opening tip, taking a commanding 25-7 first quarter lead. The Bulldogs went on a 27-12 second quarter run for a 52-19 advantage at the half. In the second half, Centerville enjoyed a 42-17 spurt for the easy 94-36 victory.

Taylor poured in a game-high 35 points on 13 deuces, three treys and 3 of 3 free throws. Nettle added 17 points on seven deuces and 3 of 4 free throws. Jackson burned the nets for 14 points on six field goals, including one trey and 1 of 2 charity shots. Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs were: Laroy Gant, 6; Cameron Pogue, 4; Devin Pontiff, 4; Dontre Austin, 2 and Dylan Burgess, 2.
