Central Catholic raced out to an early 21-0 lead on touchdowns by Lloyd Grogan, Dontrell Brown and Josh Singleton before Hanson’s Collin Broussard brought the Tigers back with a two-yard run.
Broussard’s score helped the Tigers trim Central Catholic’s lead to 21-6 in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, Hanson’s Chase Businelle hauled in a 34-yard touchdown pass from Drake Rodriguez before Beau Ancona scored on the two-point conversion as HMS closed the gap at 21-14.
Grogan answered with a pair of scores for Central Catholic which built a 34-14 cushion at the end of the third period.
Hanson’s Drake Rodriguez called his own number on a 4-yard touchdown as the Tigers narrowed the gap at 34-20 in the fourth quarter.
Central Catholic’s Tyler Hoffpauir’s 9-yard TD reception from Josh Singleton enabled the Eagles to stretch their lead to 41-20.
Hanson’s Chase Businelle closed out the scoring with a 47-yard scoring strike from Rodriguez as the Tigers dropped a 41-26 decision to the Eagles.
On the night, Hanson’s Collin Broussard rushed 18 times for 186 yards while Beau Ancona carried 10 times for 43 yards.
Drake Rodriguez was 4 of 7 for 104 yard with Chase Businelle making four receptions for 104 yards and touchdowns.
Hanson (6-3, 1-2) will play host to the Gueydan Bears on Friday in District 8-A action at McCloskey Field at 7 p.m.
