CROWLEY – The Acadia District Attorney’s Office has not yet accepted charges in the case of a teenage girl found dead by the Mermentau River bridge last December.

Sheriff’s Office investigators subsequently arrested Kimberly Harris, 19 of Mementau and David Cretchen, 29 of Jennings and booked them on charges of negligent homicide. Cretchen was also charged with two counts of intimidating a witness.

Authorities at the time said the victim -- Kimberly Hollier, 15, of Jennings -- died a result of alcohol intake.

They did not provide details regarding why the victim was with the suspects, circumstances leading up to her death or any other information about the case.

Harris’ bond was set at $50,000; Cretchen’s at $100,000.

An arrest is based on police creating what they believe is a probable and reasonable link between a suspect and a crime.

Prosecutors then decide whether to accept charges based on the evidence police provide.
