Charles Webster "Charlie" “C.W.” Walters, a native of Mississippi and resident of Amelia, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.

Charlie was a one-of-a-kind individual who enjoyed life and was an avid golfer. He was always straightforward and to the point, and you knew where you stood with him. He would help anyone he could if they needed a hand. Charlie was loved and will be missed by his family and friends.

Charlie’s family would like to offer a very special thanks to all the friends and caregivers that took care of him. They would also like to thank Morgan City Health Care and its staff along with Teche Regional Medical Center’s E.R. and I.C.U. staff for all their hard work and care they showed Charlie during his illness.

Charlie is survived by his son, Chuck Walters and his wife Brenda of Amelia; two grandchildren, Krista Walters and Brayden Walters; one great-grandchild, Myra Walters; two brothers, Douglas Walters of California and Dan Walters of Mississippi; one brother-in-law, S.J. Verret Jr.; one sister-in-law, Tracy Duval; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Verret Walters; parents, Charles E. and Jeanie Black Walters; and one sister, Edna Simpson.

There was a graveside service in the St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery in Amelia today, Wednesday, June 20, 2012. He was laid to rest in the cemetery’s mausoleum.
