MORGAN CITY — The Atchafalaya Youth Football League held its jamboree Saturday at Tiger Stadium.
While both the Bayou L’Ourse Chiefs and the Berwick/Bayou Vista Vikings were victorious in tackle action, the five flag football games scheduled were cancelled due to inclement weather.
In the first tackle game, the Chiefs defeated the Saints, 20-10.
The Chiefs were led by quarterback Colin Louviere and Joshua Jones. Louviere rushed for 96 yards, including touchdown runs of 11 yards and 20 yards, while Jones rushed for 116 yards, including an 84 yard touchdown.
Amarea Christopher added 47 yards rushing for the Chiefs.
Defensively for the Chiefs, a solid effort was turned in by Marguil Singleton, who recovered a fumble in the contest.
For the Saints, Morriquise Charles rushed for 117 yards, including touchdowns from 10 and 24 yards out.
Logan Tingle also reeled off a 55-yard run in the contest.
On defense, Cade Minton and Brooks Thomas turned in solid efforts.
In game two, the Berwick/Bayou Vista Vikings defeated the Patterson Colts, 12-6.
In the win, Barrett Hover completed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Reid Wiley, while Abram Gilder scored on a three-yard run.
On defense, Bryson Ezerneck turned in a solid performance, which included a fumble recovery.
The name of the player who scored the lone touchdown for the Colts was unavailable.
Solid defense for the Colts was turned in by Darrius Johnson, DonQuan Tilman, Keylon Williams and Treylon Bennett.
