Christmas Day outburst lands woman in jail

MORGAN CITY, La. -- A Christmas evening outburst at the Amelia Belle Casino landed a Thibodaux woman in the parish jail, according to a news release from St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert.

Patricia Ann Gaudet, 40, of Park Drive in Thibodaux, was arrested at 8:36 p.m. Tuesday for disturbing the peace intoxicated, Hebert reported.

A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at the casino and upon arrival learned from casino security personnel that Gaudet was involved in a verbal altercation with another patron, Hebert stated.

Once in contact with Gaudet, the deputy observed the strong odor of alcohol on her breath, he stated.

During the investigation, Gaudet became irate shouting profanities at patrons, Hebert stated.

Gaudet was taken to the parish jail and released on a $250 bail.

Hebert also reported the following.

—Francisco Martinez, 43, of South Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday for improper lane usage, operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the United States, and possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. A deputy responding to a complaint of a reckless driver conducted a traffic stop on Southeast Boulevard near Columbus Street in Bayou Vista. During the investigation, the deputy observed an open container of beer in the vehicle. Martinez was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

—April Thompkins, 22, of Bowman Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:34 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant from Thibodaux Police for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace. Thompkins was located at her residence on the warrant. She was taken to the parish jail and held. Her bail is set at $2,500.

—Anthony Dewayne Kelly, 28, of Grace Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of failure to use a seatbelt. He was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on a $100 bail.

Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrests.

—Clarence C. Woods, 18, of Williams Street in Patterson was arrested at 2:35 a.m. Tuesday for disturbing the peace by fighting in the Cracker Barrel parking lot. Woods was released on $442 bail.

Woods was arrested along with a 16-year-old juvenile for fighting in the parking lot. The juvenile was released to the parents.

—Stuart L. Whited, 28, of Houston, was arrested at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday for criminal damage to property (under $500).

Whited was arrested at Solar Apartments on La. 182 in Morgan City after kicking a door and breaking the locks. Whited was taken to jail and held on $492 bail.

—Michael Forristal, 40, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:41 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for a probation violation.

He was taken to jail and held. No bail has been set.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
