The City of Franklin’s Main Street Board invites everyone to its walking and golf cart parade and lamp-lighting ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 8.

Residents and groups are invited to walk the route, and those who own golf carts are asked to decorate them and participate in the parade. The following are not permitted in the parade or at the lamp-lighting ceremony: alcohol, roller skates, skateboards, roller blades, horses, cars, bicycles, scooters, mopeds, motorcycles, SUVs, ATVs, go carts and trucks. Golf cart drivers must register their vehicles with the Office of Community Development by 4:30 p.m. Dec. 7.

Participants are asked to meet at The Lamp Post at 5:30 p.m. to line up. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. on the corner of Jackson and Main streets. Walkers and golf cart drivers will proceed to Teche Drive, walk and drive behind the St. Mary Parish Courthouse and stop at the Courthouse square.

Main Street merchants are encouraged to have extended hours and are asked to decorate their store windows with white lights.

Please bring your flashlights and come out for a lively night of family fun.
