Franklin City Councilman Chuck Autin again called Progressive Waste Solutions to task for waste pickup issues.

Autin told manager Roddy Matherne Tuesday that he’s worried about the Christmas and New Year’s holidays in light of the problems he’s received complaints about from residents.

Autin said trucks are not picking up waste set to the road on designated days and are sometimes as long as two days late.

Chief of Police Sabria McGuire and Fire Chief Chuck Bourgeois verified Autin’s claim.

Matherne said he wasn’t aware of the problem. Autin said he called the local manager and was told certain streets had been picked up, but when he checked, the cans had not been emptied.

Matherne said waste from the two Tuesday holidays will be picked up on the next day on Wednesday. He said there will be other trucks on the streets for those routes.

Autin also said drivers are honking their truck horns to have residents move their containers to the street or around parked cars, rather than getting out and doing it themselves.

“It’s stupid,” he said.

Matherne agree that drivers should exit and handle the situation themselves.

Other councilmen echoed Autin’s complaints. Matherne promised to address them.
