The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Third Street between Barrow and Adams streets.
Hoodstock combines health and wellness, and edutainment (education and entertainment).
In addition to social action and cultural awareness, the group also hopes to unite both the elderly and younger generations, regardless of race, through entertainment and education.
All events in the Health and Wellness portion of the event will be held in the St. John Masonic Hall, where committee members have lined up medical personnel who have volunteered their services to provide free screenings for community members.
In the edutainment portion that follows, musical acts, poets and speakers will perform and offer presentations.
Free food, giveaways and kids’ activities are among the other things that will be offered at the event.
While local candidates for elected office will be on hand to meet with the public, the Hoodstock Committee said it is not a political group. Instead, these politicians’ presence will provide an opportunity for the public to meet the candidates, the committee said.
The committee said it has received support for the event from many local civic leaders, organizations and businesses.
