Top winners in last weekend’s Battle of the Paddles at Hanson Memorial High School were, in order, the People’s Choice Award, to the HMSS team of Chef Blake Payne, Coach Ryan Stoute and senior HMS students; The Road Kill Kings took first place in the gumbo cookoff with members Cheyene Burns, Derek Broussard, Kirt Ronsonat, Allen Pillaro, Wayne Businelle and Vick Baudoin; first place in the seafood gumbo competition was awarded to Frank Martin Farms-Jack’s Catering, Chuck Bourgeois and Jamie Robinson, and first place for the jambalaya division went to the Roux Brothers. The event was held Saturday with bands, games and other activities on the grounds of the high school.
