Cyclist dies after hitting levee embankment

MARKSVILLE – A motorcyclist not wearing a helmet died Saturday when ejected after hitting an embankment.

According to Louisiana State Police, troopers responded to the crash around 1:00 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 451 in the Bordelonville area. A family member of the victim says the actual location of the accident was in Big Bend.

Larry Martin, 62, was north-bound on La. 451 when he lost control, ran off the right side of the road and hit a levee embankment, throwing him from the bike.
