LSU Board chairman

LAKE CHARLES - Services are Monday for LSU Board of Supervisors Chairman Benjamin W. Mount. He died Dec. 3 at age 62.

He was also chairman of the board of Women’s and Children’s Hospital and involved in a number of civic activities. He was an attorney.

Survivors include his wife, State Sen. Willie Mount, and his mother.

Opera, Broadway singer

SHREVEPORT – Services are Monday for nationally known opera singer Ann Kilpatrick Peters. She died Dec. 2 at age 74.

She first joined a choir at age 9 and latter was a mezzo-soprano with the Metropolitan Opera in New York City and traveled with the national touring companies of several Broadway musicals.

She was also co-owner and a director of Kilpatrick Life Insurance Co. and Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Homes.

Survivors include a sister Virginia Shehee.

Founding conductor

SHREVEPORT – Services will be Wednesday for founding conductor of the Shreveport Symphony John Shenaut. He died Dec. 3 at age 95.

Shenaut also created new orchestra progams while on the faculty of Louisiana State Normal College, now Northwestern State.

Survivors include his wife Frances.
