LAFAYETTE – Services will be Wednesday for orthopedic surgeon Dr. John Cobb.
He was a long-time resident of Opelousas before locating in Lafayette 40 years ago.
HE was a founding member of the Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital.
Survivors include his wife Karen, a son and two daughters.
Arrangements are by Walters.
Utilities executive
WEST MONROE – Services for retired utilities executive Donald Aswell will be Wednesday. He died Dec. 2 at age 85.
He worked for La. Power and Light and retired as senior vice president of production for Mid South Utilities in New Orleans.
Survivors include his wife Virginia, a son and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Kilpatrick.
Former banker
ST. FRANCISVILLE – Services for retired banker Norman DeGolyer, Jr. will be Wednesday. He died Dec. 5 at age 85.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran of the European theater, he was retired vice president and marketing director of Capital Bank & Trust, Baton Rouge.
Survivors include a daughter.

Noted children's librarian
BATON ROUGE – Services for noted librarian Mildred Lamont will be Tuesday. She died Dec. 4 at age 91.
She was an elementary school librarian for many years and an award is given in her name at the University of Mississippi Children’s Book Festival to recognized distinguished accomplishments in promoting children’s reading by librarians and teachers.
Survivors include a son and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.
Former school supt.
NAPOLEONVILLE – Services will be Wednesday for retired assistant school superintendent Nathaniel Lewis. He died Dec. 3 at age 79.
He was former head coach at W.H. Reed School, principal of Napoleonville Junior High and past director of transporation for Assumption Parish schools. He was also an assistant superintendent and served for a period as interim superintendent.
Survivors include his wife Octavia and a daughter.
